Explorer - AMNH NYC 3.7.0
American Museum of Natural History – Freeware – Android iOSout of 100 votes
Explorer, the Museum's free mobile app, is a valuable tool for navigating the museum and enhancing your visit. It provides a map, turn-by-turn directions to exhibits and amenities, personalized recommendations, and more. The New York Times describes it as "a great aid to anyone seeing the museum for the first or 40th time."
The app is available in English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese, and it automatically sets to the language of your device.
- Map and Turn-by-Turn Directions: Explore the museum with ease by getting directions to exhibits and amenities, including shortest and accessible routes.
- Get Recommendations for What to See: Based on your selected interests, Explorer suggests exhibits and sorts them by proximity to your location.
- Learn More About the Museum's Exhibits: Dive deeper into the museum's exhibits with behind-the-scenes videos, fun quizzes, and more.
- Find the Nearest Restroom: Easily locate restrooms, shops, exits, and other facilities with Explorer's shortest route feature.
Explorer utilizes over 700 Bluetooth beacons strategically placed throughout the museum's permanent halls to determine your location. Although this triangulation method may not always be perfect in areas like large halls or stairwells, it generally functions accurately. In some rare instances, the "blue dot" indicating your position may be slightly off or missing. Moving to another area briefly usually resolves this issue.
The strength of the Museum's free AMNH-GUEST Wi-Fi may vary across different areas of the complex due to certain materials or large exhibits affecting its radio signals. However, simply moving a short distance away from a problematic spot typically solves any difficulty in connecting to Wi-Fi.
We value your feedback as it helps us improve your Museum experience. Feel free to email us at explorer@amnh.org.
